Trail Alley — Breaking into Tech with Ease
A one-minute video that walks people who are new to tech through joining Trail Alley, from the homepage to their first lesson.
THE BRIEF
Trail Alley is an online school that helps young Africans get into tech, with beginner courses in things like digital literacy, building websites, product design and social media management, plus mentors.
They wanted a short video for their website and social media that makes signing up feel simple for people who are new to tech. It had to show the real website, explain why Trail Alley (real projects to practise on, payment plans people can afford, and a supportive community), and walk people through each step: pick a course, fill the form, pay, log in and start learning.
The video had to be under a minute and end with 'Get started today'.
THE APPROACH
I used the brand's bright blue and white, switching between full-colour screens with short words ('in tech', 'Remote Learning', 'Get Started') and recordings of the real website shown inside a moving browser window. The window tilts, slides and zooms so viewers always know where to look, and each step has a simple instruction on screen, like 'Fill the form and proceed to make your payment' and 'Login your dashboard and start learning'.
The 'Why Choose Us' part shows the three reasons one at a time. The video ends on the student dashboard, with course progress showing, before the final 'Get Started Today!' screen. Nothing moves faster than a first-time visitor can follow.
THE RESULT
A clear, friendly walkthrough that answers 'how do I join?' in under a minute. It works on the website, in welcome emails, and to bring in new students.
DELIVERABLES
- Walkthrough video (57 seconds)
- Website screen animation
- On-screen text design
- Short clips for social media
✦ Director's note
“The brief was 'make tech feel possible', so the video shows the actual steps instead of making big promises, and gives each step room to breathe.”
